Biography
May 13, 1950 was the date of Stevland Hardaway Judkins’ birth in Saginaw, Michigan. He was born as the third child of his mother’s five children to both Lula Mae Hardaway and Calvin Judkins, who served in the U.S. Army.
Due to being born premature, he lost his eyesight in the hospital incubator. At the age of four, his mother divorced his father and they relocated to Detroit, where he enrolled at Fitzgerald Elementary School.

At the age of eleven, Wonder sang his own composition titled ‘Lonely Boy’ to musician Ronnie White, co-founder of the musical group ‘The Miracles.’ Soon, he was signed to Motown’s ‘Tamla’ label, and was given the name ‘Little Stevie Wonder.’
