When she was two years old, her parents split, resulting in her moving to San Diego, California with her mother. Richard Wright is Wright’s elder brother.

In Southern California, she attended La Jolla High School in La Jolla and Taft High School in Los Angeles during her youth.

Robin Wright has been in a marriage three times. She married Dane Witherspoon, an actor, in 1986 to 1988, having first met on the set of the soap opera Santa Barbara in 1984.
