Biography
On November 29, 1964, Donald Cheadle was born Donald Frank Cheadle in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Bettye North and Donald Cheadle. Bettye Cheadle and Donald Frank Cheadle Sr., both teachers, have a shared interest in clinical psychology. He possesses a sister named Cindy and a brother named Colin.
Due to his father’s job, the family moved around a lot while he was young, living in different cities across the United States. Between 1970 and 1974, Cheadle was a student at Hartley Elementary School in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he graduated in 1982 from East High School in Denver, Colorado. He had a strong interest in the arts in high school, playing saxophone in the jazz band, singing in choirs, and participating in theater productions. After high school, Cheadle pursued his passion for the performing arts by enrolling at the California Institute of the Arts, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theater in 1986.

The comedy movie ‘Moving Violations’ was where he made his big screen debut in 1985. He appeared in the war movie Hamburger Hill in 1987 following this. He switched to television and made an appearance in the April 1988 episode of the comedy series ‘Night Court’.
