Biography

In 1964, Clive Owen was born in Coventry, Warwickshire, England, the son of Pamela Owen and Jess Owen. When he was only three years old, his father, a country singer, left him and his mother. His mother and stepfather raised him, and he was the oldest of his five brothers. The local railway had a ticket officer who was his stepfather. Owen has always characterized his childhood as rough.

After a long and fruitless job search, he changed his mind about drama school in 1984, even though he was initially opposed. He worked at the Young Vic and performed in several Shakespearean plays after graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
