Becki Newton’s birthplace was New Haven, Connecticut, United States on July 4th, 1978. She has not revealed the names and occupations of her father and mother. Her brother, Matt Newton, was born May 11, 1977 and he was an actor, flimakker, and an acting couch.

He was a student at the University of Pennsylvania. Newton’s move to New York City after graduation resulted in him landing multiple roles in television commercials for companies like Olive Garden. She also made an appearance in a public service video called ‘Keg Party’, which discussed the dangers of drinking.

Personal Life

Newton’s relationship with actor Chris Diamantopoulos began at a subway station in New York and they got married on May 12, 2005. In the beginning of November 2010, she gave birth to a son and a daughter in early 2014. In 2020, Newton became pregnant with her second daughter and her third in 2022.

Career

Becki Newton completed her studies at the University of Pennsylvania and obtained a degree in European History. Following her graduation, she moved to New York City to pursue an acting career, where she starred in several commercials. Newton was in a few TV shows, including “Cold Case”, “Guiding Light” and “American Dreams” before landing the role of Amanda Tahen on “Ugly Betty” from 2006 to 2010 and Quinn on “How I Met Your Mother”. Her and her fellow castmembers’ work on ‘Ugly Betty’ earned her a nomination for a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.

The television series Love Bites was portrayed by Newton in 2011. Executive producer Cindy Chupack, who previously worked on Sex and the City, was behind the creation of the hour-long romantic comedy. The series’ pick up was announced by NBC in May 2010. However, with Newton announcing her pregnancy, her co-star Jordana Spiro contractually obligated to stay with her other show, My Boys (which was later cancelled), and Chupack’s desire to leave the show, Love Bites was pushed back to midseason.

After burning off its first-season order of episodes, Love Bites was cancelled and aired on NBC in July 2011. In November 2011, Newton was cast on CBS’s How I Met Your Mother as Quinn Garvey, a love interest for Neil Patrick Harris’s character Barney Stinson, where she played a stripper. Newton was a part of the midseason Fox comedy series The Goodwin Games in 2013. The HBO TV series Divorce featured Newton as Jackie Giannopolis, the new girlfriend of Thomas Haden Church’s character, and he began a recurring role in 2018.

On September 13, 2019, Newton and Urie announced a sitcom project for CBS and Warner Bros. They will be co-starring and co-executive producing Fun, a TV show with creator Michael Patrick King and fellow Ugly Betty showrunners Tracy Poust and Jon Kinnally. However, the pilot failed to proceed. On February 2, 2021, Newton received an announcement that he would take over Kiele Sanchez as Lorna Crane, Mickey Haller’s second ex-wife and office manager, in The Lincoln Lawyer, on Netflix.
